Can a creator upload their own voice acting?

Short answer: Yes - bring-your-own voice acting is a planned first-class path. You won't be limited to the built-in synthetic voice archetypes (powered by Chatterbox); you'll be able to upload your own recorded performances and attach them to dialogue lines alongside other audio assets. The dedicated voice script attachment is still being built, so the exact attachment flow is not final yet.

Uploading custom voice files

Custom voice upload will route through the asset pipeline in the authoring environment, the same way music and SFX uploads do - your file uploads and registers as an audio reference. You'll be able to bring in your own recorded audio to replace or supplement the synthetic archetype voices generated by Chatterbox, giving you full control over the vocal performances in your visual novel: professional voice actors, your own recordings, or any audio you have the rights to use. The Folio voice attachment that binds a clip to a dialogue line is documented in the Folio wiki as a placeholder - it is not yet wired in the runtime.

Synthetic voice archetypes (Chatterbox)

If you prefer not to record or source your own audio, Vizno's built-in Chatterbox system offers a library of synthetic voice archetypes you can assign to characters. These are available to all creators and require no external audio files. Custom uploads and archetypes are not mutually exclusive - you can mix both within the same project, assigning archetypes to some characters and uploaded audio to others.

Rights and compliance

You are responsible for ensuring you hold the necessary rights to any audio you upload. Uploading voice recordings that you do not have rights to - including unauthorized reproductions of another person's voice - may violate Vizno's content policies. Review the content policy for guidance on acceptable assets before uploading.
